Plenary 2: ISTE Standards for Teachers (2017 refresh)
The new ISTE Standards for Teachers will be released in June 2017. Be the first to get the updated standards in Quebec. I will provice an overview of the standards in the opening plenary. Here's some info from ISTE:

About the teacher standards refresh

The ISTE Standards provide a framework for learning, teaching and leading that is amplified by technology. These digital age standards are not "technology standards," but a road map for educators worldwide as they navigate decisions about curriculum, instruction, professional learning and how to transform pedagogy with technology:

ISTE refreshes the individual standards in the suite every seven to ten years to ensure they remain relevant and continue to prepare students for the future while also allowing schools, districts and states to have time to adopt, implement and show an impact on learning.

Making images with text: Engaging visual tasks for literacy

Audience: All teachers & administrators k-11

LEVEL: Beginner to Intermediate level technology users

In this hands-on workshop you'll do some 'hard playing' to build imagery that brings photographs, artwork and text together.  Use your iPad and a variety of materials and teaching tools to provide opportunities for students to produce creative work in any subject area.  Enhance visual literacy skills and engage with workflows that bring 'hands-on making' and digital tools together, seamlessly.  We’ll be making ‘Identi-kit selfies’, seeing spelling lists in a whole new light, labeling shapes by drawing with words, and labeling a skeleton using our own body…and more!  This practical session will exploit a flexible model that can be adapted to suit diverse age groups and learning goals, and you'll leave with the apps, ideas and confidence to implement some new projects on your return to the classroom.
